Thursday Themes – Lizzie Chantree

Spread the love

For my last blog before Christmas, it’s my great pleasure to be joined by the lovely Lizzie Chantree. Lizzie is here today to discuss the themes of her newest novel.

Over to you, Lizzie…

If you love me Im yours Book cover

Thank you for inviting me onto your blog today Jo. I am a romantic comedy writer and I absolutely love my job! When I hear from my readers that my stories have made them smile, then it makes the long hours of sitting on my own and writing worthwhile. Being a novelist can be quite isolating, so hearing from readers inspires me to move forward with new ideas.

I have published five books so far. My two most recent launched with Publisher Crooked Cat Books this year and are now international bestsellers, with If you love me, I’m yours, being a #1 Hot New Release on Amazon.

I have just completed a new manuscript and I’m very excited to have it ready for publication. It is about a girl with a secret that could change the fortunes of everyone she loves, but destroy her own quiet life. The book has a very shy main character, called Violet, but hopefully throughout the story you will see her personality shine. There are also two very incorrigible pensioners in the story who are totally out of control and ready to cause mischief! I really enjoy writing about friendships and the interaction between different age groups as I come from a very noisy and boisterous family. The story wouldn’t be complete without a few exciting and creative men, who make me giggle at their antics while I’m writing them, as much as the women do.

Throughout the story Violet has to decide whether to put herself first, or her community and the choices have to be made before someone else steps in and tries to control her life for her. It’s a story of love and loss as Violet’s parents died when she was young. She used to sing with her parents, but it breaks her heart to express herself vocally unless she’s alone. She has pressure from her sister, her boss in the bar she works in and from a few of the men in her life, so she needs to learn to stand up for herself, or be manipulated by others to create opportunities that they wish they could make for themselves.

The book has deep undertones, but there is also lots of highlights to make my readers happy. I hope that they turn the last page with a sparkle in their eye and a grin on their faces having immersed themselves into the life of this young woman who is far stronger than she could ever realise.

Release date: To be confirmed. 2019.
